Nasty bug - trashes my email addresses in contacts
« on: November 06, 2009, 03:33:58 AM »
Over time, I notice that more and more of my email addresses are being replaced with stuff like nobodyxxxxxxxx@nowhere.invalid. So far about 100 of 200 addresses have had this happen.

I have definitely not edited any of these addresses in Thunderbird or GMail. I have not sent emails to most of the affected people nor have I received emails from most them. However, there are plenty of email addresses there where I have sent an email to and were once fine but have then had this happen to them in the meantime.

I have looked on the forum and most references are to empty email addresses. These were definitely NOT empty beforehand.

I am going to have to stop using gContactsync if this continues to happen for obvious reasons. Any help would be appreciated.

Thx

Freddy May

Hello,

I apologize for that mistake.  What versions of Thunderbird and gContactSync are you using?

Also, could you enable verbose logging?  You can do this in the Address Book window under gContactSync -> Preferences -> Interface and check Enable verbose logging.  That will add more information to a log that gContactSync keeps to help me figure out why it is replacing your e-mail addresses.

If it happens again could you e-mail me the log?  You can do that from this form or over e-mail to joshgeenen [at] gmail <dot>com.  Before you send the e-mail you can remove irrelevant parts of the log (but please keep the top version information and preferences) and replace real info with fake info.
